The payroll and pensions excellence awards were established to recognise the important role that payroll and pensions play in the UK economy; especially when you consider the £132 billion* paid to the government through income tax and the impact on saving for retirement and reducing pensions poverty through automatic enrolment.

They are awarded to organisations, individuals and teams who have demonstrated excellence within their profession in the last twelve months – whether through inspirational management, project management and delivery or saving an organisation time and money.

The judging process

Judges are selected from various industry sectors based on their skills and knowledge within payroll and pensions. All judges are members of the CIPP so you are truly being recognised by your peers. The judging takes place during one day and the judges only review the information in-front of them in the nomination. They cannot and do not base any decision on personal opinion or prior knowledge of an individual or organisation.

The 11th annual payroll and pensions excellence awards will take place at the annual payroll and pensions conference at the Celtic Manor Resort – visit www.payrollevents.org.uk to book your attendance

esl is thrilled with Care UK’s success at the recent CIPP Awards. With auto enrolment being a major issue for companies in the UK, this award demonstrates our commitment to providing the best service to our clients and we are delighted that this work is being recognised within the payroll industry. 11 Awa Nomination hints and tips

1. Set some time aside to put together your nomination – it takes time to put a nomination together so make sure that you improve your chances by allowing plenty of time to do so and not leaving it until the last minute.

2. Follow the templates that are online – make sure that you meet all of the criteria.

3. Make sure that you supply evidence of what you are doing – it is really easy to say that you do something but the judges will be look- ing for evidence that you really do what you say! The judges mark each of the criteria in the nomination on a scale of one to five; if you say that you meet the criteria then you’ll score one; if you provide evidence of how you meet the criteria then you will score higher. The winning nomination is, quite simply, the nomi- nation with the highest score at the end of the process.

4. Have a great summary statement – your summary statement should be clear, concise and to the point. It should say “I should win because of x, y and z” and then it should direct the judge to where the information is contained within the nomination. Remember, the judging takes place in one day, and there are a lot of nominations. It will improve your chances of success if the judges can find your supporting evidence easily!

5. Finally, make sure that you get your nominations in on time so that they can be submitted for nomination on the judging day.
