Over the last few years the construction industry has recognised the benefits on offer from modular wiring systems. In that time Apex Wiring Systems has supplied systems for St Bart’s Hospital, the Olympics 2012 International Broadcast Centre and Athletes’ Village. Now, the company is extending the concept of modular wiring with a range of accessories and cabling products for small to medium sized electrical contractors

n the past few years the electrical wiring and accessories sector has had to adapt to new technologies, the availability of affordable skilled labour and the latest methods of construction - notably off-site pre- fabrication, green and lean are dri- ving the sector forward and pushing the boundaries.


This trend has seen electrical modular wiring gain a firm foothold in project specification where its value in cutting installation times (by up to 70% when compared to traditional hard wired solu- tions) and driving up on-site health and safety standards has impressed. The UK is already leading the way in Europe when it comes to electrical wiring and is moving rapidly towards fully integrated modular wiring sys- tems similar to those found in the more mature markets of the US, where the technology originated from. Elsewhere, there’s strong growth and even greater potential for the technology in places like


the Middle East, Asia and


Australia, where those responsible for mechanical and electrical specifiers are looking seriously at the benefits of modular with the adoption of plug- gable, pre-assembled systems. However, these markets have been blighted to varying degrees by the impact of the tough global trading con- ditions that have affected many global economies, putting more pressure than ever before on those within the supply chain to deliver construction projects on time and within budget, while in the process generating cost savings wherever possible. That’s where the flexibility of modu-


lar wiring systems have scored highly - adding real value and providing the construction sector with advanced elec- trical wiring systems that can be config- ured off-site, with all the advantages of time and cost savings and quality con- trol provided by the modular approach that this brings, before being shipped to site for final installation.

The latter will enable contractors to quickly and easily hand bend and shape cable carrying trays to accommodate on the spot electrical wiring direc- tional changes.


An advanced lighting control and distribution system featuring multi- pole connectivity and inter-con- nectable modular sections to accommodate systems of all sizes and shapes, making it suitable for the vast majority of end user sectors, completes the new product line-up.
