Products Cabling & Cable Management Anti-static flexible conduit systems Automation of the future
Flexicon has launched two new anti-static, liquid tight conduit systems, to enhance its range of cable protection solutions. The LTPAS and LTPPUAS flexible conduits can be used to avoid electrostatic charge build-up on installed equipment, including the surface of the conduit. This issue is par- ticularly prevalent when working in hazardous areas. Both systems comply with clause 7.4.2 of EN 600079-0, which refers to the avoidance of a build-up of electrostatic charge on Group I or Group II electrical equipment. Available with nominal sizes from 16mm up to 63mm, these new ranges of products
are compatible with all liquid tight fittings from Flexicon, including the new EXD flame- proof barrier glands. The LTPAS liquid tight flexible conduit system is PVC coated, with a special anti-sta- tic additive, and has high compression strength of up to 400kg with a high tensile strength of up to 130kg. Available with IP ratings up to IP68 and IP69K, the LTPAS can withstand temperatures from -20°C to 105°C. The LTPPUAS liquid tight flexible conduit system is polyurethane coated with a spe- cial anti-static additive, offering high abrasion resistance and superior protection for arduous environments. Available with IP ratings of up to IP68 and IP69K, the cable pro- tection system can withstand temperatures from -40°C to 80°C. Both the LTPAS and LTPPUAS flexible conduit systems are included within the new Flexicon hazardous area cat- alogue. The 20 page guide details
the different haz-
ardous area classifications and zones and outlines the company’s flexible conduit systems that are suitable for use in such areas. Flexicon

Being under constant economic and environmental pressure, the construction industry needs prod- ucts that are quick to install and easy to handle. As such Wieland Electric has introduced its new gesis FLEX compact and pluggable room automation system.
The gesis FLEX room automa-
tion system is based on the KNX system and is 100% pluggable. Its compact proportions and flat design make it well suited for use in false floors and suspended ceil- ings. Like Wieland’s other control systems, gesis FLEX is decen- tralised and pluggable, saving on expensive cables that are time con- suming to install. Any extension of the installation is quick and easy to facilitate, whilst modifica- tions over the lengthy lifecycle of a building are simplified, enabling future-proof construction. Also well suited for confined spaces, the gesis FLEX modules are just 44mm high and can be interconnected as required to provide a secure and error-free installation. As the system only grows linearly horizontally and not vertically when it is

extended, it adapts to areas where space is at a premium and, as a result, does not con- flict with other facilities in increasingly tight spots. All electrical connections are accessed from one side of the unit and are entirely pluggable, making fast and tool-free instal- lation simple.
The base module controls up to six extension modules and there are also binary inputs, switching and sunblind outputs, as well as many other extras available. The status indicator and manual control level incor- porated on each module simpli- fies commissioning. Intermediate feeds and a quick mounting frame add additional benefits to the room automation system. Wieland Electric
