Products Enclosures Wall mounted distribution enclosures
They offer the flexibility to assemble enclosures that will accept DIN-rail mounted devices, such as miniature circuit
breakers, relays, contactors
and meters. To accommodate incoming protection devices there is a circuit breaker mod- ule suitable for standard moulded case circuit
breakers from ABB, Eaton,
Schneider Electric and Siemens, with ratings up to 630A.

RS Components (RS) is stocking the CamRack QX series of 19" wall mounted cabinets from CamdenBoss. Designed to house rack mount equip-
ment for cabling, telecommunications, IT, industrial and
home installations,
CamRack QX cabinets are supplied flat packed, which eases access to the installation site while reducing logistics costs and providing greater protection during transit. Fast and efficient ¼-turn lock fixings allow users to assemble the cabinets without the aid of tools in just three minutes. CamRack QX cabinets are available in five models, each offering a selection of five standard corner colours, with a further five colours available on request. The five models are 6U, 9U, 12U, 15U, and 18U, all in a standard 19" width (580mm). The cabinets also feature a quick release door with tempered, smoky safety glass and removable side panels with two ¼-turn locks. Easily drilled plastic blanking covers for cable entry ensure that all cables are stored neatly and securely. RS Components

Customisation available for metal range
A new range of high impact, diecast enclosures which fea- tures IP68 rated protection, has been launched by Retex. The Series 68 is made from aluminium alloy and is well suited to outdoor applications where increased protection is required both from atmospheric conditions as well as impacts. The new range consists of six
sizes of enclosure. Each is equipped with a neoprene seal as standard, which is suitable for use in a wide temperature range - from -40°C to 130°C. For those expecting the enclosure to be exposed to tempera- tures outside this range, an optional silicone seal is available on request which will extend the operating range to -60°C up to 200°C. As part of the protection and anti-corrosion
package, the
Series 68 enclosures are available in natural aluminium colour, as well as powder coated in black or grey. Other powder coated colours are available on request. The lids are held in place by the stainless steel M4 pins. Inside the enclosure there are a number of M4 fixing points as well as an earth terminal, to ensure correct earthing practice is maintained. A new ‘Custom Enclosures Service’ has been introduced by METCASE that enables different types of enclosures to be manu- factured to order including desktop, portable, wall mount and 19" rack mount cases. The new service is designed to help design engineers develop their own housing which exactly matches their requirements. Small batch sizes are an impor- tant benefit of the service. The typical minimum order quantity is just ten enclosures. This can be very useful for high value, low volume electronics equipment, or evaluation batches during new product development. Working with METCASE, the design engineer can specify all the mounting parameters for their electronic components,
assemblies and PCBs. MET- CASE will then manufacture the enclosures to the exact external dimensions required, and CNC punch or drill all the external panels with holes and cut-outs to suit the connectors, PCBs, switches, displays etc.
The company can also supply special internal chassis and
mounting plates for the PCB assemblies, power supplies, keyboard units etc. These spe- cial parts can be manufactured in steel or aluminium material. METCASE offers a range of standard finishes including powder polyester and wet paints, natural or coloured anodising, and special conductive coatings such as ‘Interlox 338’. The enclo- sures can be painted in standard RAL colours or non-standard colours matched to a sample. Front panels can be machined with all the necessary cut outs for the displays and controls. They can also be anodised or painted, and silk screen printed or engraved with the control leg- ends and company logos. METCASE

DE Controls, the manufacturing arm of Hylec-APL, has developed a range of hinged door enclosures that offer similar degrees of impact resistance to metal enclosures, with the added advantage of lower unit costs and quicker installation. The range is suitable as a direct replace- ment for metal enclosures in most applications and is supplied with mounting brackets and a fitted galvanised steel back plate. The hinged door enclosure range from DE Controls uses flame
retardant ABS with wall thicknesses of up to 3.5mm which offers impact resistance of IK08 (protection against impacts with an energy up to five joules). Because ABS is non-corrosive the enclosures are also able to offer protection from continual expo- sure to external conditions, even in marine applications. The enclosures offer IP65 protection from dust and moisture ingress and use high quality seals and hinges to ensure that their perfor- mance won’t deteriorate over time. Other benefits of specifying plastic enclosures rather than metal include the reduced unit costs and installation times. Because the
material, machining and transport costs of plastic are lower, the unit costs of plastic enclosures is generally lower than metal ones of sim- ilar sizes, even though they offer similar degrees of protection. For more details on the enclosure range visit
