hat a perfect time, as we look forward to Valentine’s Day,
to ponder the state of our heart: the physical as well as the emotional…How many of us have stopped to realize that the two (the physical and emotional) are really interdependent? It is a fact
that suffering “a broken heart” can lead to physical heart problems…. Hypertension, which leads to heart disease, can actually be lessened by making some lifestyle changes. How do we rate when we consider exercise, eating plenty of fruits and vegetables (in their natural state), fi nding ways to lessen the stress of everyday life? It is important to fi nd what brings us stress relief. Is it Meditation? Music? A Brisk Walk? Yoga? Is it simply unplugging from all the competing electronics overloading our ability to respond? Relying on pills is not the answer—we can do so much to “unlearn anxiety” for ourselves.
Let’s all fi nd our own ways to personally de-stress and this February celebrate a Happy Heart!

Natural Awakenings practices environmental sustainability by using postconsumer recycled paper and soy-based ink on uncoated stock. This choice avoids the toxic chemicals and high energy costs of producing shiny, coated paper that is hard to recycle.
