ere at USA Volleyball, we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have access to so many talented players, coaches and volleyball experts, all of whom play a big role in charting a course that allows millions to enjoy the game at all levels of ability and experience. A big focus for us in 2014 will be expanding the ways that we can connect these experts with all of you, our valued members. Through many different social media platforms, you’ll fi nd frequent blogs, videos, slide shows, instructional tips and human-interest stories. We want to share these with you, and, in turn, we hope you’ll share them with your friends, family, coaches and teammates. On Facebook, where our followers increased from 65,000 to 120,000 over the last seven months of 2013, you’ll fi nd items that range from what U.S. Women’s National Team coach Karch Kiraly says about the need for all players to improve their core strength to a wallpaper link of Olympic silver medalist April Ross. Follow us on Twitter and you’ll get a daily dose of volleyball with tweets steering you toward many points of interest – like a video interview with USA libero Tamari Miyashiro explaining why volleyball is the ultimate team sport or a glimpse of three-time Olympic beach gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings teaching kids the skills of the game or a photo gallery of USA outside hitter Matt Anderson, the MVP of the 2013 NORCECA gold-medal team. You’ll also fi nd us on Google+, where our followers totaled 40,000 by the end of the 2013. In 2014, we will continue to build out our quickly growing profi les on Instagram and Pinter- est, and, via all our social media platforms, you’ll be reading, viewing and hearing more about our hugely popular 35-city USA Junior Beach Tour and the Junior National Championships. Through all of our social media outlets, you’ll have an easy pathway to intriguing content on our website,
usavolleyball.org, which reached a milestone of 1.5 million unique visitors in 2013. For us, growing on social media is a two-way street. We very much want to hear from you. Tell us your likes, dislikes, ask us questions, share what you love about the game and how you think it could be even better. Or post a cool picture. Or maybe just tell us a great volleyball story that we can share with everybody. We can never see too many images or hear too many accounts of people loving the game.
Follow us, and we’ll follow you H
TRAINING CENTER PARTNERS
In many ways, this is the greatest era ever to be a member of USA Volleyball because we are so easily able to interact directly with you – and vice versa. Our mandate as a national governing body is to educate people about volleyball, grow the game and help you enjoy it in any way we can. We are committed to communicating our expertise, resources and support in ways that make it easy and help you fi nd pertinent USAV content for you to access and apply it. But remember, it’s a collab- orative effort among all of us in the volleyball community, and we value your input. So don’t be a stranger. We look forward to chatting with you in cyberspace in 2014.
