Years USA Volleyball’s director of sports development John Kessel has been working domestically and internationally to develop the
sport. Kessel was inducted into the American Vol- leyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame at the Jostens Coaches Award Banquet in Seattle on Dec. 19. “I am blessed to have everybody in this room who I think are part of my volleyball family,” Kessel said. “I hope that the things we do together as family are collaborative and work together. I am going to challenge each other in one way and that is never be a child’s last coach. If you do that, you have really succeeded as a coach beyond your record.”
Women’s Beach Volleyball Player of the Year. The end-of-season awards are chosen by players, coaches, referees and offi cials who participate on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. Walsh Jen- nings (Saratoga, Calif.) was the only female U.S. player to be recognized in 2013. She won twice on the tour with April Ross.
