Apps that matter V
Tech tools to help you become a “complete” volleyball player
olleyballUSA is always interested in tapping the knowledge of high-level athletes and coaches who have proven they know what it takes to be successful in this game. As most everybody is aware, being a relevant volleyball player in 2013 extends beyond training, practices and matches. It also involves technology. And so we bring you our fi rst edition of “Apps that matter,” courtesy of
Team USA middle blocker Rachael Adams, who joined the team in May 2013 following an awesome career at University of Texas that earned her fi rst- team AVCA All-American honors. Adams knows her apps, and she has assembled a collection of her favor-
ites here, complete with comments on why she likes them and how she uses them.
Flipboard “My favorite news apps. All types of news, all in one place. Gossip, social timeline, magazine snippets and important news. You choose.”
Twitter (Tweetbot) “A way for us to connect with our fans worldwide and when we’re on the go. We fi nd and share inspirational tweets that motivate us to be the best. My prefer- ence is Tweetbot. Find me on Twitter @RADAMSS. :-)”

Whatsapp “Allows us to communicate for free with anyone and everyone, no matter where we are. We create a lot of team messages. Even if we’re in the same hotel or hotel room, we’re always sharing random things with each other.”
Instagram “The best and our favorite way to visually share with everyone our on-the-go journeys. Always posting pictures of food and behind-the-scene moments while we’re on the road. And, of course, I would recommend following my teammates and myself. No brainer. Insta: Rachaeladams.”
World Clock “We never really know what time zone we’re in or which one we just left, so this is always an essential app.”
Voxer “Our lazy walkie-talkie app. A way for quick and creepy communication.”
Sudoku “I’ve been staying away from Candy Crush – I’ve heard it is addicting. This is my go- to game to play on my phone or iPad.”
Find my iPhone “I’ve used this app several times. You never know where you’re going to lose your phone. Maybe it’s just
me, but I love leaving it in the back of plane pockets and playing panic hide-and-seek later. It’s a life saver.”
Pinterest “Scroll, scroll, pin, pin, pin. Addicting. This is our go-to bored app where we dream about having free time to do and make these things.”
Fooducate “Being able to go to the grocery store and have a little personal helper. Scan the label and learn about what you’re putting in your body. Shop a little smarter. Get an upper hand on your competition. Your body is your temple, so fuel it the right way.”
