The calibre of this year’s winners, and their drive, determination and business sense in tough times make them inspirational ambassadors for all Irish women. We would like to congratulate [our winners] on their hard-earned and well-deserved accolades.”
Input invited for Euro beauty standards
The development of the first European standards for beauty salon services is underway with the initial draft for Public Enquiry expected this month.
EN 16708 – Beauty Salon Services – Requirements and Recommendations for the Provision of Services is being developed by the European Standard Development body, CEN. CEN Technical Committee (TC) 409 consists of up to 11 participating European countries, with technical experts from each country nominated by their respective National Standard Body (NSB).
A key part of the standard development process is the Public Enquiry stage, expected to begin on 6th February. This is where draft standards are made available, through the NSBs across Europe, to end users and industry members are invited offer comment on the technical content.
If you are interested in offering input, you should visit the NSAI (National Standards Authority of Ireland) web page ‘Your Standard Your Say’:

Celebrating 25 years of success
expertise Repêchage Founder and CEO Lydia Sarfati has had a busy few months travelling the globe to support international distributors and skin specialists.
December saw the Repêchage Network Power Lunch including champagne brunch, hosted by Lydia, take place at the company’s New York offices, attended by salon and Spa business owners, skin care educators and doctors.
Meanwhile, Repêchage treatments have been introduced into Romania, by Professional Brands M&D, who first met with Lydia Sarfati at the annual Cosmprof exhibition in Bologne, Italy. To celebrate the Romanian launch, which includes a training centre, Lydia attended a lavish event in Bucharest alongside 300 VIPs.
Previously, Lydia had travelled to Italy to host in-salon training at Milan’s Sun Store alongside Repêchage Educator Natalie Otto. She then moved onto the Studio Massofisioterapico Dibi Center, a renowned skin care centre which recently introduced Milan’s first Repêchage Facial Bar concept to offer quick services that still deliver the feel of a full Spa treatment.
Congratulations to renowned Irish beauty therapist Noiren Carrigg, who recently celebrated 25 years in the industry.
Noiren qualified in beauty in 1988 and quickly established her own salon in Bray, Co .Wicklow, followed by stints as President of the Irish Beauty Professionals Association and founder of the Irish Beauty Awards.
Noiren was also the first to offer training in specialised waxing in Ireland and has trained over 5,000 therapists. In the past three years, she has developed her own Wax Logic range which has been very successful both in Ireland and abroad.
Commenting on her success, Noiren says: “After 25 years I can honestly say I have even more passion for this industry than ever. Whether it’s working with my longstanding clients in my salon or meeting and training new therapists with Wax Logic, I still enjoy my job every day and look forward to many more years in our great industry.”
