What the retailers had to say about October: “Heavenly Fashion boots have been fantastic along with the usually brilliant sales of Rieker. Riva classic Italian fashion ankle boots, i.e. Buttons etc., at £135, nearly sold out.” Roger Hare, Middletons.
“October 2013 was 12% up on 2012 . The Autumn season has continued to do extremely well with all brands selling well. Mid-calf length boots are the biggest sellers with long boots doing OK but slowing down. We have now sold nearly 100 pairs of Airstep all retailing over £200 which is quite amazing. Romika waterproof product has performed well with sell through of over 65%. “ At the lower end of the market Heavenly Feet and Earth Spirit has been well received again with sell through in the 60%s . Men’s trade has also been much better with Rieker Men’s selling ex- tremely well which is good to see. It has all been about boots for the men with Chelsea boots topping the market.” Andrew Marshall, Strolling4Shoes, Cumbria.
“Boot season is always in full swing for Kids by October year on year as our regular customers know we cannot easily replenish European styles which they come to us to buy. Gore-tex/waterproof boots go from strength to strength provided they are not too ski-styled in order that they can be worn day to day in the UK. Shorter boots are still very much in demand again this year for Kid’s styling. Average boot price for October 2013: £55.” Andrea Afrifa, Stampede, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
