Rob Caso’s beautiful Bulldogracer (facing page) performs a spectacular photo pass during the NEAT Fair festivities. Rob scratchbuilt the impressive racer and flew it thoughout the weekend. Greg and his friends packed a lot of planes into the RV. Six aircraft share the “dining room table” area (above left), while another five fuselages share a “basement” compartment (above right) (including two 40-

foot equivalents). A tent at the flight line provides a hangar during the event. An early Saturday morning view of the northern half (below left) of vendor row containing tents from both R/C and food vendors. The other end of the pit area (below right). Bicycles, scooters, or the occasional Segway make the long walk up and down the flight line a lot shorter.

The balance of the demos included flights of many well-known pilots. Dan Landis flew several models including his 26-pound, 105- inch wing span MX2. Dave Lockhart gave a Pattern demonstration and some freestyle flying with his Bravo. Don Belfort (FLYING MODELS Electric columnist) flew his Er- coupe—an 80-inch model built from a Na- tional Balsa laser-cut kit. Devin McGrath flew a freestyle routine with his 78-inch Ex- tra 300 from Extreme Flight. Manufactur- ers and sponsors were given the opportunity to show their latest additions/creations as well, letting attendees see what could be

their next plane… and many more! Saturday’s demo started with an AMA Hall of Fame Induction. It’s a rare privilege, and rarer still to have six AMA Hall of Fame mem- bers present at one event: Ted Strader from Scotia, NY, and a member of the Electric Pow- er Aeromodelers was inducted into the Hall of Fame, welcomed by current Hall of Fame members Dave Mathewson, Bob Aberle, Tom Hunt, Ray Juschkus, and Bob Brown. Sun- day’s demo included the awards for the event. This year the award for Best Scale went to Adam Woodworth with his 106-inch, 13- pound Eurofighter, hand launched and pow-

ered by a pair of Turnigy SK3 - 5045-660 KV motors turning Aeronaut CAM 15–10 props with some amazing 3D and slow flight char- acteristics.

Best Sport award this year was a tie; a fa- ther and son pair won the honors. Lee Wood- worth (father) flew his inflatable Pool Toy— an easy to transport (it deflates) model and proof that anything can fly with suitable power. It actually flew well! Adam (son) won with his X-periment, his own design “X” configuration, with equal vertical and horizontal areas. The aircraft is capable of continuous rolls without elevator

Vaporsunder the big top as pilots try to fly through the hoops (above left), break the balloons (above), and perform carrier landings in the Jersey Coast Sport Flyers tent. Rob Kallok (at right) holds the award he provided for the winner, Adam Lilley.
