into account cost of ticket, traveller productivity and cost of


carbon offsetting. By awarding a value to each of these elements, especially when reviewing domestic UK mainland travel, it is clear that travelling by rail can be the most cost effective, productive and green option. Nigel Turner, director of


programme management and business development at CWT comments, “The figures speak for themselves, and we’d encourage travel managers to ensure regular reviews of their routes and traveller habits and consider how rail on some of these might be a more budget and carbon-friendly option as well as increasing productivity and decreasing stress for travellers.”
