15A control cards and offered in a desktop style case supporting up to 12 zones or a free-standing version for up to 48 zones. Features include a 5.7-inch touch screen control panel, plug-and-play architecture and integrated diagnostics for identifying faults such as zone and thermocouple function and connection.

Thermoplay’s FN series nozzles are claimed to provide a larger contact area and reduced thermal transfer due to a new bimetallic tip construction
line-up include the Accu-Valve MX series of precision valve gates, an extension of the Fusion series, and the new TempMaster iM2 controller that is packaged for integration into any injection moulding machine. The Accu-Valve MX valve gates are intended for high
precision, high volume thin wall moulding applications such as packaging and medical disposables. Features include a double valve pin guidance system that is claimed to maintain precise alignment between the pin and cavity. It is backed with a 3m cycle warranty. MoldMasters says the new design has been extensively field tested in medical applications prior to release and has performed well with commodity polymers such as PP and engineering resins, including ABS, POM and PC. The Fusion G2 line is designed for automotive
applications and the latest addition to the range, the F7000 nozzle, is pitched at producers of large compo- nents. The nozzle uses an updated heater system allow- ing replacement in the field, improved manifold cable management, and can be supplied in lengths up to 1,000mm with a variety of gating options. MoldMasters sits within Milacron alongside mould
components specialist DME, which has been a Milacron group company for close to two decades and also has its own hotrunner products. While the companies may explore synergies in areas such as procurement, Milacron CEO Tom Goeke says customers should not expect to see a merging of the hotrunner product lines, making it very clear that its corporate strategy is one of independent operating units focused on the specific requirements of their customer base. “We feel that is really important in terms of innovation and develop- ment,” he says. The latest addition to the DME hotrunner product
range is its Intelligent Temperature Control System, a compact modular control system based on six-zone,

Simplified maintenance Italy-based Thermoplay has introduced a new version of its tried-and-tested F Series hotrunner – the FN Series – intended to simplify maintenance and improve thermal control at the gate. Standard FN Series nozzles are available in 16, 24, 32 and 64mm diameters, all offering the ability to replace the heater and thermo- couple without requiring removal of the nozzle tip. The three smaller product lines are also now fitted with a special bimetallic tip manufactured in titanium and tempered steel which allows a larger (up to three times greater) contact area with the tool. This is claimed to reduce the risk of wear and plastic leakage at the gate. Despite the larger contact area, thermal transfer between the nozzle and the mould is reduced with this new design to minimise energy usage. Thermoplay is also offering a screw-in version of the FN Series nozzles, available in 24, 32, 46 and 60mm diameters in standard and valve gate variants. The 60mm diameter version provides a 25mm diameter flow path and is designed for use with the company’s newly developed 30mm channel manifold. With more moulders looking to eliminate hydraulics
from the mould area in areas such as packaging and medical, Germany’s Hasco has introduced its H4420 2motion hot half, which uses two servo motors mounted on the outside of the mould to drive a needle valve actuating plate. Designed to provide simple and reliable operation with straightforward maintenance – the externally mounted servomotors and drive system are easily accessible – valve pin actuation is controlled by a simple standalone unit which integrates to the machine controller. Control functions include process status indication and display of needle force and position, mould setting memory storage and cycle counter. Latest addition to the Husky Injection Molding
Systems’ hotrunner product line is the Altanium Delta3 controller, which the company says bridges the gap in functionality terms between its Neo2 and Matrix units. “The introduction of the Delta3 to Husky’s Altanium family of controllers allows us to provide premium performance and functionality at an affordable price,” says Altanium product line manager Matthew Cummings. The Delta3 system incorporates a number of
advanced monitoring functions designed to reduce the risk of bad parts entering downstream processes,
