European polymer demand | markets

electrical goods manufacturing, although the success of their plastics industry will be dependent on growth continuing in the more western European countries. However, the countries of Southern Europe are expected to continue to see shrinking market demand for some time yet. Given the modest outlook for polymer demand in the

economies of the European continent, overall European demand is expected to average equally modest growth of just over 1% a year for the five-year period 2012-2017. Volume demand will mainly be driven by developments in Central Europe, where the market is expected to continue to grow at nearer 3% a year. In contrast, growth in western Europe will average less than 1% a year.

For more information This article is based on AMI’s recently published European Plastics Industry Report 2013, which provides a comprehensive analysis of key polymer supply and demand across the continent. Now in its 12th

edition, this

report examines commodity (L/LDPE, HDPE, PP, PVC, PS and PET) and engineering (ABS/SAN, PBT, PA, PC, PMMA and POM) polymer supply and demand and thermoplastic

compound trends, as well as reviewing application developments in key plastics markets, including film and sheet and pipe and profile extrusion, injection and blowmoulding. It provides information at a European and national market level, including actual and estimated market data for the period from 2007 to 2017. The report is available in print or PDF form.
