Grede Adding Capacity to Facility in Monterrey, Mexico Grede Holdings LLC, Southfield,


Mich., announced it is adding capacity to its NovoCast ferrous metalcast- ing facility in Monterrey, Mexico, to help meet the growing demands of its automotive and heavy truck customers in the region. Te plant will be installing a new


pressure pouring system, which effec- tively adds 8,000 metric tons per year of capacity, a 12% increase. Te capital equipment is expected to be installed by February 2014. “Our commitment to the Mexico


market remains strong, as shown by the investment we are making in our NovoCast facility,” said Doug Grimm, chairman, president and CEO, Grede Holdings LLC. “Our customers are among the leaders in the region and this capacity increase allows us to support their growth projections.” Grede Holdings LLC was formed in 2010 through the combination of assets of the former Grede Found- ries Inc., Blackhawk Foundry (USA) and Citation Corp. With estimated annual revenues exceeding $1 bil- lion, the company specializes in high quality ductile, gray and specialty iron castings, including lost foam and high silicon molybdenum applications.


Chromalloy Expands to Produce Master Alloy Ingots Chromalloy is expanding its in-


vestment casting foundry in Tampa, Fla., to include a master alloy opera- tion. The company supplies castings, repairs, coatings and services for turbine airfoils and other critical engine components, serving turbine engine manufacturers and operators in commercial aerospace, defense and the energy industry. “Chromalloy’s new vacuum induc-


tion melting furnace will be fully operational in December 2013 at our state-of-the-art investment foundry,” said Carlo Luzzatto, president. “Over the next 90 days, we will meet the manufacturing requirements to commence production of master al-


loys for ingots used to manufacture gas turbine engine equipment.” Alloy ingots are used in the


production supply chain of complex systems and manufactured parts, including the gas turbine engine components cast and repaired by Chromalloy for power system manufacturers. “Chromalloy master alloys will


be produced to the specifications of our customers in the aerospace and energy industries,” Luzzatto said. “With this capability, Chromalloy is fully positioned and vertically integrated, from master alloy to finished parts, to offer equipment manufacturers a complete range of

nickel and cobalt-based castings in addition to the engineering services and part repairs we now offer.” In addition to producing master


alloy ingots for internal use, Chro- malloy will provide the ingots to other manufacturers of turbine com- ponents worldwide. It will have the capacity to produce up to 3 million lbs. annually. The master alloys produced by


Chromalloy may include rare earth metals that stabilize base metals and add properties including greater corrosion resistance and strength at extreme temperatures. Chromalloy is a subsidiary of Sequa Corp., a Carlyle Group company.
