AFS Participates in U.S. Government Investment Summit

the first Investment Summit held by President Obama’s SelectUSA, a U.S. government-wide initiative to pro- mote and facilitate investment in the U.S. AFS represented the metalcasting industry to more than 1,000 foreign and domestic companies and inves- tors who attended the event, as well as high profile U.S. officials. The agenda for the inaugural event included remarks from President Obama, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez. At the Investment Summit, AFS showcased the available casting supply chain to the global audience of capitalists looking to invest in the U.S. T e society exhib- ited alongside state and regional economic development organizations and other professional and trade associations. “Our participation in the Investment Summit was a
prime opportunity to highlight the U.S. metalcasting indus- try to high level decision makers who stopped by our booth,” said Alfred Spada, AFS director of marketing, communica- tions and public relations. “We held important conversations with several attendees and government offi cials about the value our industry brings to the supply chain.” In addition to the exhibit floor, summit attendees
had access to networking opportunities and one-on-one meetings, presentations on the latest investment trends, moderated panel, break-out sessions about investment opportunities and programs, and information about investment-related resources in the United States.
Metalcaster Directory Provides Database of Suppliers
AFS has launched a revamped searchable online met-
alcaster directory (
www.afsinc.org/metalcasterdirectory) featuring an integrated process selector for purchasing agents looking for North American sources for cast com- ponents. Users can use the AFS Metalcaster Directory to narrow their search by metal type, casting process, and geographic region. As part of the new tool, users can input part data such as
weight, volume and type of metal for help in determining which type of casting process is best suited to their needs. T e tool is also linked to a casting alloy database that pro- vides property information for various casting alloys. AFS has provided metalcasting facility listings to

casting customers for years, and the new Metalcaster Directory is its latest, most advanced method available to search for and identify potential new casting sources. Full listings in the directory include address, company website, processes used, metals poured, and the ability to submit a request for quote.
