MES B

attlefi eld developer DICE considered opening a studio in the UK before opting to launch

its new offi ce in LA. General Manager Karl Magnus

Troedsson told MCV that the fi rm searched globally before settling on LA, but decided against going somewhere ‘just because it was cheaper’. “We ran the whole due diligence on

where we will open a new studio,” he said. “We looked all over the world. “The fi nal reason, and it’s a very individual one, is that we had people in LA already, people who had already worked at DICE Stockholm, and we had people who were going to leave us in Sweden and go to LA to work for other companies. So there was a foundation of people we trusted there. “Britain was defi nitely one of the

places we looked at, and it would have been closer to Stockholm. But in the end we decided for LA. Maybe it was because of the weather?” he joked. “The tax breaks are in the UK and in Canada. But in the end we are not doing this to save money. We are doing this to fi nd the right people to build the best games we can.“
