This week, industry charity SpecialEffect brews its own beer, the Surgeon Simulator guys give blood and one games retailer builds its very own Titan

CHARITY CASE

Those generous folk over at SpecialEffect are at it again, tirelessly raising more money. Now, they’re taking part in the Twin Town Challenge, which is a motor rally around the UK and Europe. Over 50 teams including the likes of Sega and First Touch have signed up so far. But sponsoring the event is Wychwood Brewery, which has even produced the charity’s own beer Car-Beer-Eta to raise money. Best of all, the celebs below are scribbling their names on the bottles to put up for auction: everyone from Greg James and Kevin Keegan, to Rio Ferdinand and Jamie Redknapp. Even David Cameron has penned a bottle. Oooh.

OFF THE RECORD

BLOOD BROTHERS If you’re the least bit squeamish, you might want to skim over this... It’s not every day you see game makers endorsing their creations with this level of commitment. The guys at Bossa Studios, responsible for Surgeon Simulator, recently popped down to their local blood donor centre. In an attempt to reconcile the gallons of spilt blood their gory simulator has caused, they themselves bled a spot of the red stuff. Of the experience, James Broadley, lead artist, said: “A needle went in my arm and blood came out into a bag. My blood will save people with not enough blood.”
