MCVspeaks to CurveBall Leisure’s Gavin Connolly about the successful launch of the firm’s online wholesale site
Tell us about your company. We are Europe’s leading distributor of back catalogue video games. We source the best deals from across the world and that’s reflected in our prices. Our customers range from High Street retailers to indie eBay traders.
What projects do you currently have in the works? We’re actively developing our online wholesale activities. We spent quite a lot of time developing a totally custom internal system, which has brought new efficiencies and disciplines to the company and now we’re busy extending the benefits of that to our wholesale customer base. The first phase of our wholesale website launched in February as an up-to-the-minute catalogue resource and is generating some great new business leads every day, as well as helping existing customers get information we’d normally have to sort manually.

Adapting our purchasing behaviours and trying to predict how successful a title will be is a challenge that remains constant. A lot of our business also depends on getting information to our customers before our competitors, so we are constantly looking at ways to improve in this area.
What is your biggest success? It is difficult to name just one. We have had several really nice trading opportunities, which
You could say our biggest success is staying competitive during the difficult times this industry has endured.

enabled us to service our customers with extra margin. You could say our biggest success is staying competitive during the difficult times this industry has endured.
How did you choose your company name? Two of the original founders – Andrew and Paul – are very passionate American sports fans.
Tell us something about your company no one knows. Most Monday mornings at the office consist of arguments over who's going to win the annual fantasy football competition.
