trees, table settings and gifts. Whatever happened to the fun we had as children, stringing garlands of popcorn (some detoured and eaten!) and cranberries?....Some families still cut down their very own tree. Instead, my preference is to diffuse essential oils of pine/evergreen and frankincense.


As for dishes and glasses, who cares if everything doesn’t match? A potpourri of settings adds to the festive feeling….And who will not be happy with an unwrapped gift of special tickets?


On a more serious note for all of us—whether or not we’ve recently lost a loved one—testimonies of those with Near Death Experiences (p. 18) can inspire, comfort, reassure. Love of self and the resolve to be an instrument of love are messages we all can ponder….The advice to be happy in the here and now (p.16), as urged by those whose lives are shortened, help us to reassess our uses of time and resources and connection to family. Finally, the wisdom of the Native American (p.29) in the Lakota Advice for Life, speaks to us all: to be our best selves as we honor each other and all creation. May your holiday celebrations be blessed with Togetherness, Mindfulness and Love,
