PROJECT FOCUS RELIGIOUS
St. Michael Catholic Church, Garden City, S.C. The church seats 1,200 worshippers and is only four blocks from the ocean. The architect was LS3P Neal Prince Architects, and Metalcon Inc. was the roofing contractor. The church includes 30,000 square feet of 0.040-inch aluminum 16-inch-wide Tite-Loc Plus panels in Dark Bronze from Petersen Aluminum Corp. The ves- tibule for overflow is made from 2,000 square feet of 0.040-inch, 12-inch-wide Flush Soffit panels finished in Dark Bronze. The PAC-CLAD system had the ability to meet negative load uplift requirements.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, West Seneca, N.Y. Completed in February 2012, the project consisted of the demolition of an existing sanctuary and construction of a new sanctuary after the original building was deemed structurally unsound. Limited funding required the use of a metal building system. Lehigh Construction Group Inc. demolished the original building, salvaging the art glass windows, altar and pews to be used in the new building. With a footprint of almost 5,000 square feet, the new church blends the salvaged windows, altar, pews and art glass with a new design that creates a reminder of the original sanctuary, while creating a more modern, safe worship space.
