Shanghai revived Goddard Group recreates golden era
The Hollywood-based Goddard Group has broken ground on a recreation of the Shanghai Bund as part of the Hengdian World Studios theme park in China. Located just a few hours from the “real” Shanghai in Dongyang, Zheijiang Province, the project is slated to open in 2016. The 50-acre development will feature, as well as a variety of themed hotel offerings, an exact recreation of the pre-war Shanghai Bund waterfront. “Constructing such a venue,” explains
CEO Gary Goddard, “will allow Hengdian World Studios to address the incredible demand to film period dramas along this iconic waterfront locale, as well as to entertain the ever-growing number of tourists who flock to the theme park, where they're able to watch content production first hand.” Ride, shows and studio tours are also promised, transporting guests back to the excitement and romance of the Bund’s golden era.
The Goddard Group has also begun work on several other new projects in China, including new destination resorts in the cities of Harbin and Haicheng. Both include a theme park, resort hotel and additional supporting attractions. For Macau, Goddard has completed designs for a major new themed resort complex following the group’s highly acclaimed Galaxy Macau casino resort, which opened in 2011.
Avatar at Animal Kingdom
Here's a sneak peak at the concept art for the Avatar themed land opening in just over three years time at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Florida. Walt Disney Imagineering is partnering with filmmaker James Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment to bring the mythical world of Pandora to life. The land of floating mountains, bioluminescent rain- forests and soaring banshees featured in Cameron’s CGI epic will become real for park guests to see, hear and touch. Scheduled to open in 2017, the Avatar inspired area will be part of the largest expansion in the history of this Walt Disney World park.
Inspired by popular Chinese dramas, Triad Gangster Chase at Hengdian World Studios will take riders on a wild adventure through Shanghai's dark underworld
