Yumble
A new FEC brand for Europe
Vekoma is among thr suppliers to a new family entertainment centre (FEC) in The Netherlands – only it won’t feature any rollercoasters. Opening in September 2014 at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Roermond, close to the German border, Yumble will be the first of what it is hoped will become a chain of outlets across Europe.

Adventure is over The CEO of Adventure World Warsaw (AWW), Peter Jan Mulder has been forced to abandon his plans to build a theme park resort near the Polish capital.

The project would have been built on a 240-hectare site in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, about 50km from Warsaw. The Dutchman behind it had assembled a team of Dutch
designers, consultants and suppliers to help him realise his vision, boasting that it would, “put Poland back on the map worldwide.” Phase one, including a theme park and hotel facilities, was supposed to open this coming spring. An indoor waterpark was set to follow. The total project cost was reported to be €570m. Yet despite a press conference announcing
Mulder’s plans in 2011, and even a celebratory firework display on site last summer, the development hit several stumbling blocks along the way, not least a reduction in the amount of land and funding available, and even alleged financial irregularities with one of its contractors.
“It is with great sorrow that I declare that I have signed an application for the bankruptcy of AWW and its subsidiary firms,” Mulder told the Polish business journal Puls Biznesu last month. “Despite many attempts, it was not possible to build and finance the amusement park in Grodzisk Mazowiecki. This failure seems to be permanent.”

Billed as the “Entertainment Park 2.0”, the 8,000 sq m facility promises “a thrilling virtual reality experience based on motion technology video projection and interactive elements.” Anchor attractions will include Adventure Execution, a Soarin-style V-Ride flight simulator built by Vekoma’s Taiwanese partner Brogent Technologies, and Ranger, a 3D dark ride (or 'D-

Yumble visitors will benefit from airline-style dynamic pricing and short queue times. Capacity will be up to 4,500 guests per hour. Investors are currently being sought for future sites and the plan is to roll out Yumble to at least one new location a year.

New simulator concepts to launch in Orlando
Making its debut in Orlando will be a new exhibitor from Austria, Valtiner & Partner GmbH. The company will be unveiling details of its E- Motionboard stand-up simulator/motion theatre.
Cruden’s new 3CTR simulator
High end simulator manufacturer Cruden is promising to “make a virtual splash” at this month’s IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando as it launches a new powerboat simulator. Visitors to the show will be able to climb aboard the Hexatech 3CTR simulator and launch themselves into the water in a dual engine P1 powerboat or a fast interceptor military vessel. It can also simulate a raft, helicopter or motorbike. This is the first Cruden simulator to offer interaction for three guests at once. The guest to the right of the driver controls the throttle, while the person on the left is the navigator. Depending on customer requirement, the versatile simulator can be switched to race car mode. Cruden’s simulators are already used by race engineers for vehicle development and to produce the powerboat simulator the company spent hours with the Dutch military on its interceptor vessels and security boats, to get the motion just right. According to a company spokesperson, the 2-DOF version is more affordable than Cruden’s racing simulator since it requires fewer degrees of motion. Stop by booth 1051 at IAAPA to discover just how affordable.
Martin Valtiner, an architect by trade, has been working on the concept for several years. He says his experience as a pilot guided the sensations he wanted park-goers to be able to experience. “We debuted the prototype at the famous
Prater park in Vienna. Since then, we have redesigned the system and eliminated the hydraulic base, making it friendlier for theme parks to operate and maintain.” “[Potential] buyers have been telling us that they need theatres that can fit in existing, underutilised buildings,” reveals V&P project manager Herbert Gall. “They want freedom when choosing a film content creator, and the theatre has to offer a completely new experience. Riders are not just watching images on the screen, they actually feel like they are flying.” Find Valtiner & Partner at IAAPA on the booth of the Ride Entertainment Group.
