Taking on the challenge

Irish Beauty chats to Tina Buckley, SalesManager at GrahamAnthony & Co Ltd, to discovermore about her passions in and away from the beauty industry.

 I ended up in the beauty industry because…My brother-in-law’s sister worked in Brown Thomas as a counter manager and I just thought, ‘what a cool job!’

 If I wasn’t in the beauty industry I would…Be a private investigator – I am good at getting to the bottom of things.

 The best thing about my job is… I really love being part of a team. I enjoy what I do and enjoy working with all the personalities within the industry. The challenges are enormous but rewarding and I enjoy seeing how motivated everybody gets with growing their business in tough times.

 An average day for me is… Rising at 6.30am and having different challenges to deal with every day. I could be in the office or out on the road, emails to be answered, meetings with buyers, forecasting next year’s marketing calendar, preparing sales meetings, planning promotions or special offers, meeting our PR and Marketing company. Looking after our accounts is top priority, supporting our team both in the UK and Ireland including department stores. I usually arrive home late and enjoy a glass of wine.

 My ideal weekend would be… Being outdoors – cycling, walking. If it’s not too nice outside then just lying on the couch watching a great movie or reading a great book, enjoying good company, lots of nice food and a bottle of wine…and not opening my laptop at all!

 My favourite book is… At the moment it’s, Just Looking Thanks! by Alf Dunbar. It’s a guide to creating brilliant customer service and it provides effective tools to help increase sales. I think everyone who sells anything to consumers should read this book.

 My favourite film is…Pretty Woman – don’t you just love the ending?

 The most famous person I have met is…Sean Connery when he was filming The Great Train Robbery in Moate and also Brian Cowen, he lives down the road from me!

 My favourite part of the world is… Peregian Beach near Noosa in Australia. It’s an amazing place but mainly because my beautiful niece lives there and it’s the people that make things special in this life.

 I could not live without… My job. It gives me great satisfaction and happiness.

 My favourite beauty treatment is…I recently had Radio Frequency on my face and everyone afterwards was telling me how well I looked! I also lost five inches with just one session of Lipofirm Cavitation on my stomach – what more could a girl ask for! Facial wise it has to be the Payot Experience Radiance Facial.

When growing up my role model was…Over the last 20 years it’s been Solange Dessimoulie, founder of Decléor. I admire her passion for the industry, knowledge, charitable nature, and with Decléor celebrating its 40 year anniversary in 2014 she still remains at the very heart of the company, with no plans to retire.

 I would like to be remembered as…A good person.
