U.S. CAPITOL POLICE SUBMITTED BY: OFC. ANTROBUS T
he United States Capitol is synonymous with liberty and freedom throughout the world. Under the dome resides the center and focal point of America’s legislative branch of gov- ernment. Protecting the legislative branch is the United States Capitol Police (USCP). From its humble beginnings in 1828, the
USCP has evolved into a full-service, Com- mission on Accreditation for Law Enforce-
ment Agencies (CALEA) accredited federal law enforcement agency with more than 2,000 sworn and civilian employees currently led by Chief Kim C. Dine. The mission of the USCP is to protect Congress, its legislative processes, members, employees, visitors and facilities from crime, disruption, or terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional responsibilities in a safe and open environment. As an agency, we are a microcosm of America representing many races, religions, political affiliations, sexual orientations and ages; thus making us America’s Police Department. USCP Officers use state-of-the-art equipment in the
performance of their duties and are provided with the finest training available to law enforcement.
