scare him, but we realized she was desperately in need of help. Tis was because each time Stanley saw her, she seemed to be crying. It was a good thing Stanley is also

a devout Buddhist and very skilled in arranging powerful pujas. It was a good thing also that we knew many mantras that we could recite for her, which would guide her into a rebirth, or at least to get out of the Bardo. Stanley said a great deal of prayers for her and eventually she left the building. Later, he dreamed of her and knew that the prayers and pujas said for her had helped her to the next stage of her death journey. Te office is no longer haunted. Another time we were travelling

to the United States and en route we spent a night in transit in Tokyo. We spent the night at the NIKKO Airport hotel. It was a very YIN hotel and there seemed to be very few people. Very likely the hotel was not very successful, but I could feel the energy was very downbeat and very Yin.

Nevertheless, my husband and I

slept very well at the hotel. Not so Stanley who was also with us that trip. Apparently in the night, he was woken up by the presence of several Ninja ghosts, six of them actually. “How did you know they were

Ninjas?” I asked, and he described their black attire; they had been dressed completely in black and they wore black kerchiefs over their mouths. Stanley said he felt them pressing him down strongly until he could not breathe. “What did you do then?” I asked.

He told me he tried to chant Om mani padme hum, but somehow the words could not come out. He had lost his voice. He then made superhuman effort to recite the mantra inside his head; this time concentrating on reciting some tantric mantras as well – mantras of wrathful Buddhas and Protectors who would be strong enough to get the Ninjas off his chest. Happily, this worked, and the Ninjas disappeared in a flash of white light. Stanley has this “ability” to see

Spirit beings. Some of us have it and some do not. Needless to say, it

if you have statues or pictures of anything – animals or humans – that have two eyes, a nose and a mouth in your home, it is a good idea to write the words OM AH HUM at the back so they do not attract Yin Spirits to enter into them. I have many Buddha statues in my house and I make very sure they are all suitably consecrated. I also recite plenty of mantras, sutras and prayers, so there is little chance of spirits being able to enter into my statues. For those awaiting consecration, I always stick the words OM AH HUM on the back of them. Tis is the most effective deterrent against ghosts and hauntings. Tey will naturally avoid anything with these holy syllables on them. Tose with altars in your homes are advised to make

is better not to be able to see them, but even if you do, it is VITAL not to be afraid. Te key to dealing with YIN SPIRIT FORMATION is to overcome whatever feelings of fear that may arise, and if you can, recite any mantra which you may have learnt. The easiest is OM MANI PADME HUM and you can also recite OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SOHA, the mantra of the Goddess Tara. Inside this ten-syllable mantra are supplications to the wrathful Taras who have the power to disperse all yin spirits and ghostly beings. If you encounter spirit beings, think of them with compassion. Ten try to look for someone who can appease or help them. It is really important to generate this kind of attitude, as spirit beings have no one to help them otherwise. In this, those amongst the Chinese feng shui Masters who know how to appease these Spirits usually use either Taoist or Buddhist methods. Tey also use the same methods to deal with spirit possession. There are special prayers that can be said for unhappy spirits who may be haunting a space, a room or a house; some of these powerful prayers are contained in our new Chant a Mantra book. An excellent way to deal with Yin Spirit Formation is to make sure that

sure you place mantras inside the statues or place the words OM AH HUM on your statues.

This is also why I always wear the syllables OM AH HUM on my body, either in the form of a pendant or on my scarfs or etched on a ring. When you wear these three syllables on you, demon spirits will not be able to possess you; they cannot enter into any vessel or container (i.e. human body, picture or statue) that has these sacred syllables.

Tis is also an effective deterrent

against being a victim of black magic, because all black magic is undertaken with the help of some form of cosmic spirit. Most times, the spirit is quite low level so the OM AH HUM is like a powerful barrier they cannot enter; but occasionally, you might have the bad luck to fall victim to black magic performed by a higher level spirit. Tis is why it is such a good idea, especially if your inner spirit for any particular year is low, for you to recite the REFUGE prayer each day. Doing this will place you immediately and directly under the protection of the Buddhas. But this protection does not happen automatically; you need to actually recite the prayers of Refuge. You have to ask for this Refuge! Again, the Refuge prayer is contained in the Chant a Mantra book.
