Product News 39 Armacell redesigns Tuffcoat insulation
Armacell has redesigned its Armaflex Tuffcoat insulation for improved fitting and protection of mechanical services pipework.
Armaflex Tuffcoat comprises the Armaflex flexible, closed cell, foamed nitrile rubber laminated with a Tuffcoat
PVC coating for enhanced protection against impact damage. It is suitable for both above and below ground installations, including mains cold water and ground source heat pump pipework to prevent freezing. The Tuffcoat outer covering also ensures protection against UV damage, water ingress and damage from birds or rodents. It is ideal for pipe and ductwork applications where wash down cleaning regimes are regularly undertaken.
The tube version of the product has been redesigned so that around a quarter of the Tuffcoat PVC covering is left un-adhered to the Armeflex insulation tube. This un-adhered section of the covering has a self- adhesive backing with protective peel-off paper sheet for removing and fixing down onto the Armaflex insulation once the tubes are installed onto pipework. This makes it easier to slide and fit the tubes onto new pipework sections. Armacell UK
0161 287 7015 Adande provides a cool solution
Adande has supplied two refrigerated double drawer systems to Slattery, a Manchester-based pâtissier and chocolatier. In addition to over the counter trade, the Slattery operation includes a 140 seat dining room.
Located in the dining room’s busy kitchen, one of the Adande drawer units is used for the storage of raw ingredients, while the other is used for holding cooked product, avoiding cross contamination between raw and cooked food. The drawer units are located beneath the kitchen’s food preparation worktops, providing convenient and space saving temperature controlled storage. The Adande refrigerated systems feature insulated drawers and a modified air flow pattern, which deliver high efficiency cooling, as well as accurate and stable temperature control, no matter how frequently the drawer is opened, even in the hottest kitchen environments. Slattery’s managing director, John Slattery, reported that he had seen the Adande system demonstrated at a trade show and recognised the advantages compared with upright refrigeration equipment. As a result, he specified the drawer units to his contractor as part of a recent kitchen refurbishment.
Adande Refrigeration Radial fans range expanded
ebm-papst is expanding its range of radial fans with the launch of the RadiPac series. The new medium-pressure standalone series joins the established range of low-pressure radial plug fans with GreenTech EC motor technology. RadiPac offers a self-contained and compact solution, removing the need for variable frequency/inverter drives (VFD) and cost-intensive adjustments during commissioning. As the motor and electronics in the motor system are already perfectly adjusted to one another, additional electronic filters, shielded cables or external motor protection are unnecessary.
Three designs are available. Support Bracket is for suspending on the unit wall with pre-assembled inlet ring and plate. Installation is either horizontal or vertical.
Support Bracket + comes with a pre-assembled inlet ring and plate, enabling the fan to be decoupled from the environment by means of appropriate vibration elements. The installation shaft is horizontal. Cube has a pre-assembled inlet ring and full frame. The stable design enables the fan to be decoupled from the environment using appropriate vibration elements. Installation shaft is horizontal or vertical. ebm-papst

Ability Projects has secured Energy Technology Listing (ETL) status for its fan unit controller and associated fan coil unit control strategy.
The listing means that purchasers of this equipment, such as commercial and industrial owner occupiers, hotel and retail chains, developers and others may
be able to benefit from 100% first year capital allowances on their expenditure. In addition, using Energy Technology List equipment like the Ability package is one way to improve the SKA rating awarded to any office refurbishment project.
Ability chairman, Peter Lowther, said: “To say we are delighted to gain ETL listing would be a complete understatement. Our controls team have worked so hard on this and to have achieved the award makes all their efforts so worthwhile – I’m very proud.” He continued: “I have always wanted Ability to drive fan coils into the energy efficiency future. First, because we need fan coils to compete effectively against other systems such as chilled beams and, second, because there is no greater pleasure than pioneering the way forward.” Ability Projects
