Coils, Coolers and Condensers 33 Bitzer invests in dynamic growth
A NEW strategy for the distribution of Bitzer compressors, condensing units and electronics control products in the UK is now in place.
Until now, Bitzer UK has been directly distributing Bitzer branded and third party products to OEMs, contractors and distributors in the UK and Ireland. This has now changed and a major part of the distribution has been transferred to selected distribution partners. The new distributors – Dean & Wood, RSL, Thermofrost in the UK, DWG and RSL in Ireland – have been appointed to serve hundreds of Bitzer customers in the fields of refrigeration and HVAC contracting and provide them with the quality, service and support that is to be expected from a leading compressor manufacturer.
Bitzer UK is retaining a small number of direct OEM customers and major contractors, but the production of Bitzer compressor packs and racks at the company’s plant in Milton Keynes has now ceased.
With the new distribution network in place, Bitzer UK will be in a stronger position to further develop OEM business and jointly pursue opportunities for growth through higher levels of cooperation.
This approach will be undertaken with existing OEM customers in the traditional refrigeration and HVAC markets as well as in markets such as marine, transportation, agriculture, the food chain, including supermarkets, and other areas of industry. While the route to the market for the majority of Bitzer products has changed, the traditional high levels of technical support that the company offers has not. Customers of any size and from any sector – contractor, end-user or OEM – can still contact Bitzer directly with any technical and application issues. Distributor customers can also choose to route their questions through their usual distributor. All of the new Bitzer distributors are undergoing in-depth training in all aspects of Bitzer compressor and condensing unit technology. These training programmes are being rolled-out at all levels of distributor staff.
To support its OEM business and planned market development, Bitzer UK will appoint additional key technical staff while the key account management team will be headed up by Phil Godbehere. Overseeing the whole organisation are managing directors Kevin Glass and Ronald Bekker who has joined Bitzer UK from the company’s German parent
company. Mr Bekker has experience in developing this type of distribution network within other Bitzer subsidiaries. Indeed, Bitzer already has a global relationship with Dean & Wood as a distribution partner – invaluable experience for the UK market.
Bitzer UK’s growth targets are supported by a product development programme that will encompass many areas of the company’s range and not just reciprocating compressors.
Always a technologically innovative company, Bitzer planned developments in the areas of Ecoline compressors, boxed
condensing units, CO2 refrigeration technology and the development of the scroll compressor range, which will be of great interest to all customers looking for energy efficient, high performance refrigeration and air conditioning systems. All these products are designed to take on the competition directly while UK customers will now also have much improved access to electronics and controls solutions from Lodam, a Bitzer Group company.
Bitzer UK has planned for the future and this latest chapter in the company’s development will ensure exciting times ahead for everyone.
