At Convening Leaders 2014 on Sunday, Jan. 12, PCMA will host the fifth CEO/ CEO Summit, during which CEOs from leading convention bureaus and convention centers will get together to discuss hot-button issues, including customer concerns. This year, the con- tent will be slightly different, because PCMA will “ask two or three CEOs to help craft an agenda,” PCMA President and CEO Deborah Sexton said. “It’s an opportunity they don’t get anywhere else. This is one of the only times when they are at the same place at the same time.” For more information, visit conveningleaders.org.

20 Chances to Experience Innovation On Site

PCMA will provide 20 meeting professionals the opportunity to go behind the scenes for one day at the Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) 2013 Annual Meeting, held at McCormick Place in Chicago on Dec. 1–6, as part of a new PCMA Innovation Experience program. Freeman and Choose Chicago will guide guests through the meeting on Dec. 3, “taking a look at and under- standing some of the innovations that the Radio- logical Society of North America has put into their Annual Meeting,” PCMA’s Deborah Sexton said. As the single-largest medical assembly in the

world, RSNA will demonstrate cutting-edge tech- nologies that other medical groups can adopt. “It’s a real learning experience,” Sexton said, “because they see [the technology] in action and how it’s embraced by attendees.” For more information, visit rsna.org/Annual_Meeting.aspx.

NY Chapter’s Pub & Grub for Good

On Aug. 13, approximately 70 event professionals hit the streets of Midtown Manhattan as part of the PCMA New York Chapter’s first 5K event. But they ambled more than raced: The partici- pants were on a mission to visit five new bars and restaurants for the chapter’s 5K: Kitchens Pub & Grub Crawl, while giving back to the community. The event cost $45 per person, with all proceeds going to Feeding America, a hunger-relief charity. By the end of the night, the chapter raised approximately $4,000, equivalent to about 32,000 meals. “It’s important that, as we all gather to learn and conduct business, we remember to give back,” said Jessica Levin, CMP, CAE, director of Network for the Needy for the New York Chapter. PCMA U PCMA’s Student Union, a program that prepares students for the meet- ings industry, has taken on a new name and a whole new format. PCMA U — scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan, 12, at Convening Leaders 2014 in Boston — will begin with a “Who’s Who at Convening Leaders, How Do I Greet and Meet, and Staying Connected Post–Convening Leaders” session, helping students network and make the most out of their time at the conference. The last portion of PCMA U will be divided separately for upperclassmen and underclassmen. Those beginning their careers will receive insights on how to interact in the workplace, while under- classmen will learn how to score top internships with a resume/cover-letter workshop and an “Intern- ship 101” discussion.
