PreSonus’ ADL 700 channel strip combines a single- channel version of the ADL 600 Class A tube preamplifier, a fully variable FET compressor, and semi- parametric EQ. It uses transistors, resistors, capacitors, and op-amps. Its dual-transformer design results in an ultra-quiet tube preamp with a distinctive sound. You get four mic- input impedances and variable mic-input gain. The FET compressor has a ‘soft


knee’ curve and includes fully variable attack, release, threshold, ratio, and makeup gain. The compressors of two ADL 700s can be stereo linked. The four-band semi-parametric EQ combines isolated filters and optimised, per-band Q to provide subtle signal shaping without harsh artefacts. All bands have Gain (+16dB) and frequency controls, with overlapping frequency ranges and fixed Q (0.55). The low and high bands are


switchable between shelving and peak. A switch lets you put the EQ before or after the compressor, and you can independently bypass the compressor and the EQ. The 2U device provides separate balanced XLR mic, balanced XLR line, 1/4in TS instrument inputs with Source Select, a balanced XLR output, phantom power, a -20dB pad, and polarity reverse.
