Studio Engineer of the Year Toby Alington: “This is a special award because it’s not one project, one event, one client, one thing. This stretch of 12 months’ work includes all different types of projects from film music, concerts through to things like the Brits and MTVs. To be recognised for the energy and emotion we put into each and every one of those projects is the best reward I could have.”
British Grove’s Dave Stewart receives the Studio of the Year accolade: “It was a complete and utter surprise. I’ve got to pay tribute to our engineers without whom none of this would get done. After a pun-filled introduction from PSNEurope editor Dave Robinson, Lifetime Achievement recipient Andy Munro took to the stage. “I’m amazed by how many people are here – top people in the industry as well – it’s a great event. By far the best show in the industry.”
On acepting the Grand Prix award for the British Entertainment Industry Radio Group (BEIRG), John Steven pointed out that, because of the group’s work, the UK is the only country where the PMSE sector has received government funding to compensate for losses arising from spectrum sell-off.
