Balluff's Direct Metal-Mount RFID System

ounting RFID tags against metal causes interference with most 13.56 MHz based systems, significantly reducing range.

M Balluff have now

designed a direct metal- mount “FerroIDENT” RFID

system to provide tough industrial track-and-trace capability to any manufacturing, assembly or closed- loop logistics process. The Balluff non-contact, ISO 15693 compliant passive data carrier technology allows the RFID tag to be mounted on any alloy or metal surface without typical interference or loss in range. The FerroIDENT tags offers read/wire ranges up to 65 mm regardless of the alloy content of the metal, including aluminium, which tends to cause the most loss in range for passive RFID. These new tags are contained in a robust, compact housing to allow flexible mounting and sustainability. Designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -25 to 130°C, the Balluff FerroIDENT

tags provide up to 1,000

hours of continuous, idle exposure. Passive design with no batteries means these tags are maintenance free. Two industrial head options are designed for maximum read/write performance. One is a self-contained processor and read/write head with a built-in RS-232 serial interface. The other is a read/write head the same housing and it can be connected to any of Balluff’s several remote processors.

Advertorial

umerous applications such as robotics, as well as rotary tables, machine tools and others require high torques,

but offer only limited

installation space. In addition, very fast and precise positioning movements have to be carried out with high payloads, and without backlash.

This is exactly where the RV-N series shows its strengths: it is especially lightweight and compact, yet has a heavy-duty construction, which makes it ideal for entirely new applications.

The compact design is achieved by means of a main bearing with an integrated inner race. High power density is possible due to reinforcement of the eccentric shaft bearing.

The dimensions of the new gear are much more compact than the previous series – the power data remains at a comparable level with an average reduction by one size. Reduction of the weight by 40% reduces the mass inertia and therefore improves the load conditions.

Special heat treatment of all components during the production process ensures high thermal stability of the gears and a significantly longer service life. The series is available in diverse sizes with rated torques from 245 to 7,000 Nm.

Website relaunch for Ircon pyrometer brand

A

new website has just been released for the Ircon pyrometer brand. The English version is online at http://www.ircon.com/. Sites in

German, French, Spanish, and Chinese will follow shortly. Established on the market since 1962, Ircon infrared pyrometers perform with accuracy and repeatability in the harshest and most volatile conditions, where

precise temperature measurement and control is required. The new website presents the wide range of Ircon products for non-contact temperature measurement in industrial processes. The new, application- driven content will help guide visitors to the temperature measurement solutions best suited for their industry or need. Users can quickly find the optimal infrared solution simply via their application in metals, glass, or plastics processing, in the manufacture of photovoltaic modules, the packaging or paper industry, and other areas. The new site contains comprehensive information on temperature measurement via infrared technology, tutorials on specific applications; contact forms for pricing, service, and calibration requests; and hotline numbers for the international service network. Further information includes news, dates, events, and an employment portal for jobs within the Fluke Group.

New stand-alone infrared linescanning systems

he recent introduction of the infrared linescanner system ScanIR3 complements the product portfolio of the Ircon pyrometer brand. This new series was specially developed to create real-time thermal images in a wide variety of applications, for instance in the glass,

T metals,

semiconductor, and plastics industry. The linescanners are suitable for temperature monitoring of continuous processes as well as discrete manufacturing in production lines. The series comprises eight models for various spectral ranges and wide temperature ranges. Featuring built-in laser sighting, water-cooling, and an air purge housing, the rugged units withstand even the most demanding conditions. A protective enclosure enables operation at very high ambient temperatures. With a maximum optical resolution of 200:1, a scan speed of up to 150 lines per second, and up to 1.024 measurement points per line, the new Ircon linescanners are among the most precise and fastest systems in the market.

New Handheld Scanners

hether printed, needle-engraved, laser etched or embossed: wenglor’s new Handheld Scanners capture demanding 1D and 2D codes in nearly any industrial environment. Thanks to greater process reliability, higher throughput and a longer service life, the ID experts are above all in demand in the automotive, electrical and pharmaceuticals industries. Quick alignment and capturing of 1D and 2D codes with a practical alignment tool is only one of the outstanding capabilities of the new range of Handheld Scanners. The FIS-HS21 and the FIS-HS41X are additionally distinguished by a large scanning distance, which makes operation extremely easy and convenient. The scanning distance for all of the scanners from the new range lies between 38 and 394 mm. Where ease of operation is concerned, the high-precision readers are also equipped with a convincing feedback tool which stimulates three senses at once. After a code has been deciphered, the scanner provides the user with immediate feedback in the form of vibration, an acoustic signal and visual indication. wenglor’s new Handheld Scanners are highly suitable for use in the pharmaceuticals industry as well.
