SHOW NEWS
Electronics booth to experience interactive demonstrations of the freshly released Sound Forge Pro 11 and SpectraLayers Pro 2 upgrades, along with Vegas Pro 12 and Sound Forge Pro Mac. Visitors can learn more about Sound Forge Pro 11 and SpectraLayers Pro 2 at any time during the tradeshow. Booth demonstrations will cover the new versions’ top-line features including metering for the new critical broadcast audio standards, the Spectral Casting/Spectral Molding process, and inter-program data exchange functionality. Cedar Audio will be showing DNS
8 Live, which makes it possible for broadcasters to suppress ambient noise instantly and with the minimum of fuss to produce clean multichannel programming, whether recorded or transmitted live to air. The company
will also have the DNS3000 dialogue noise suppressor on its stand, and will be demonstrating the Cedar Studio suite for Pro Tools, the latter of which includes the DNS One plug-in as well as Cedar’s Audio’s Adaptive Limiter and the Debuzz and Declip processes. RTW is to present a firmware update for its flagship SurroundControl 31900 and 31960 series. In addition to supporting all current EBU/ITU loudness regulations, including ITU 1770-3, the new firmware simplifies the control of the studio-monitoring environment when switching over between various audio formats such as stereo, 3.1, 5.1 or 7.1. Users can select independent trim and delay values for both analogue and digital monitoring outputs; this information can then be stored in up to five level/delay trim sets in the audio system menu. The Soccer Sidekick app from Calrec simpifies the tracking of on-field audio
defining the individual input routing for the sub presets, these new level/delay trim sets can be allocated and tapped into as needed.
LOUD AND CLEAR At IBC Calrec will launch its Soccer Sidekick iPad app, an assistive mixing tool designed to simplify the job of tracking the on-field audio during a football game. The Soccer Sidekick calculates the optimal contribution from each microphone to best capture events at those locations and moves the
appropriate faders on the desk. DPA Microphones’ new d:dicate 4017C Shotgun microphone – a shorter version of the d:dicate 4017B Shotgun microphone – will be on display at IBC2013. Thanks to the modularity of this new d:dicate range, DPA has been able to team the 4017 shotgun capsule with its compact C preamp to create a microphone for boom recording in tight spaces and rooms where ceiling height is limited. The 1237A/1238A are Genelec’s latest three-way SAM (Smart Active Monitor) monitors designed to adapt to their environment by tuning the frequency response to compensate for acoustical room influences and to achieve perfect alignment of volume levels at the listening position. Both monitors can be either freestanding or flush-mounted; the flush versions benefit from a powerful new RAM-L amplifier that can also be attached to the loudspeaker cabinet when the monitor is free standing.
