HOUSING AGREEMENT
THE HOUSING AGREEMENT – Once a student has completed his or her housing agreement and has been confirmed for an on-campus unit, he or she has entered into a legally binding financial commitment with the Department of Housing Services and DePaul University.
AGREEMENT LENGTH – The term of the Lincoln Park housing agreement extends over the fall, winter and spring quarters, or remaining portion thereof, beginning September 7, 2013. This agreement will terminate 24 hours after the resident’s last spring quarter final exam or on the last day of the spring quarter, whichever comes first.
ASSIGNMENTS – Assignments are made by Housing Services, and all published rates are based on full occupancy of each room, suite or apartment, which range from one to eight residents.
DECEMBER INTERSESSION – Belden-Racine Hall residents may request to remain in Belden-Racine Hall for December Intersession (November 27 - December 20, 2013), by submitting a December Intersession agreement. Students who require December Intersession housing and who are not currently living in Belden- Racine Hall or another hall that remains open through winter break must complete a December Intersession agreement with Housing Services no later than October 15, 2013. See housing agreement for rates (additional rates will apply). Housing Services will attempt to accommodate requests for December Intersession as space permits. Belden-Racine Hall will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 for all December Intersession residents.
WINTER BREAK HOUSING – During the winter break period (November 27, 2013 through January 3, 2014), residents of Centennial Hall, McCabe Hall, Sanctuary Hall, Sanctuary Townhomes, Sheffield Square Apartments and the Vincent and Louise House are allowed to remain on campus.
Students living in Belden-Racine Hall, Clifton-Fullerton Hall, Corcoran Hall, Munroe Hall, Seton Hall and University Hall are required to vacate their rooms 24 hours after their last final exam for fall quarter, or by noon on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, whichever comes first. At the end of fall quarter, residents who will be returning for winter
quarter may leave their belongings in their room and take their key home. However, once the residence halls are closed, at the conclusion of fall quarter, residents will not be allowed access into their room until the halls reopen for winter quarter. If any residents of the aforementioned buildings intend to cancel their agreement for winter and spring quarters, notification must be made in writing to Housing Services by December 2, 2013.
WINTER QUARTER MOVE-IN – Residents who are required to leave for winter break may return to on- campus housing beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014. Residents will be asked to “check in” with Housing Services prior to returning for winter quarter. Residents will be provided with additional information about check in during fall quarter.
SPRING QUARTER MOVE-OUT – Residents must check out within 24 hours of their last final exam, or by noon on Saturday, June 14, 2014, whichever comes first. Residents who may need to stay in their rooms beyond the traditional end date of spring quarter because they are participating in graduation ceremonies must notify Housing Services of this need in writing at least two weeks prior to graduation. Graduating seniors may request an extension with Housing Services to stay later due to graduation ceremonies.
SPRING TO SUMMER TRANSITION – Residents who are assigned a unit for summer housing will be required to transition to their summer assignment between 5 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2014 and 5 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2014.
SUMMER QUARTER – Residents who wish to stay for summer quarter must complete a separate summer housing agreement. Summer agreements will be available Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Summer quarter residents must check out within 24 hours of their last final exam, or by noon on Saturday, August 23, 2014, whichever comes first. Residents who are assigned for 2014 fall quarter housing will be required to transition to their fall assignment between noon, Saturday, August 23, and 5 p.m., Sunday, August 24, 2014. All summer quarter to fall quarter transitions must be completed by 5 p.m., Sunday, August 24, 2014.
