RESIDENCE HALL COUNCIL AND RESOURCES

RESIDENCE HALL COUNCIL (RHC) – Residence Hall Council (RHC) consists of current residents who have been elected by their peers. The purpose of RHC is to facilitate the social, educational and personal growth of all residents. RHC acts as a liaison between residents and the administration and aids in maintaining the best possible environment for all residents; their motto is, “We make DePaul home.” RHC is primarily focused on programming and governance for students. Past programs include Little Siblings Weekend and D-Factor (talent show). RHC also coordinates rentals programs, as listed below. Visit the RHC website (rhc.depaul.edu) for more details.

LINENS – RHC offers linen purchases through a vendor before the academic year begins. If you have questions, visit rhl.org/dpl.

LOFT RENTAL – Lofts are metal frames that elevate a bed. Lofts may only be leased through the RHC-approved vendor, Bedloft. All other loft systems, whether purchased or homemade, are prohibited. Leased lofts may only be used in traditional residence halls, which excludes Centennial Hall, McCabe Hall, Sanctuary Hall, Sanctuary Townhomes, Sheffield Square Apartments, and Vincent and Louise House. You may rent a loft at any point during the fall or winter quarter. Rentals are not available starting spring quarter. There are also no summer rentals for residents staying on campus during this time. For orders placed during the summer for the following academic year, the lofts will be delivered prior to students moving in and left unassembled in the room. It is your responsibility to assemble the loft. Once assembled, you can place a work order via the Housing Services’ website and staff will come to your room to remove and store the original bed ends (if you wish). Lofts will be picked up from student rooms after the residence halls close in June. Bed ends will be returned to the rooms they were removed from prior to move out. All lofts must be disassembled for pick- up. Failure to do this will result in a fine. If you want to return a loft prior to the end of the school year (especially if you are moving out early) arrangements must be made for pick up by directly contacting the vendor, Bedloft. Any applicable refunds will be worked out with Bedloft directly.

Lofts should never be moved to a room other than the one it was rented for, unless a student changes rooms throughout the course of the year.

Futons are also available to purchase through Bedloft and will also be delivered to your room prior to the start of fall quarter. Since these items are not rentals, they are yours to keep when the school year is over. You should make plans to either transport these home at the end of the year or donate them to a local charity. For more information,

contact Bedloft at bedloft.com.

MICRO-FRIDGE RENTAL – Micro-fridges are available for rental through Bedloft. These units consist of a fridge, freezer and microwave all built into one. These rental units will be delivered to your room prior to the start of fall quarter where they will remain until picked up after the halls close in June. These units must stay in the room they were intended for, unless the student moves to a new unit during the year. Micro-fridges may only be used in the traditional residence halls, which excludes Centennial Hall, McCabe Hall, Sanctuary Hall, Sanctuary Townhomes, Sheffield Square Apartments, and Vincent and Louise House. Students are only allowed one micro-fridge per unit (due to electrical constraints); please confer with your roommate(s) before placing your rental order. At the end of the academic year, it is important that you properly prepare the units for pick up. This includes removing all food contents, cleaning the inside and outside of the fridge, freezer and microwave and ensuring the unit is unplugged and defrosted. Fees may be assessed if units are not prepared for pick up. For more information, visit bedloft.com.

STUDENT ADVANTAGE – The Student Advantage card, which offers discounts to students at local and national businesses, is available for purchase through RHC before the start of the year. If you have questions about the Student Advantage card, please visit studentadvantage.com.
