program has a long record of correctly describing commercial cupola operations and, as seen in Table 3, the agreement between the experimental results and the computer simulation is excellent. It provided reassurance that the conditions noted in the quenched materials also apply to larger cupolas.
Tis article was adapted from four technical papers (09-103, 09-104, 09-105 and 13- 1449) by Seymour Katz, Ricardo E. Aristiza- bal, C.M. Silva and P.A. Perez, presented at the American Foundry Society’s Metalcasting Congress in 2009 and 2013. Research is under- way on additional findings from the study.
