Princeton senior, Tewaaraton finalist mastered the Nile
Who is your favorite athlete? Mariano Rivera. He is the best at what he does. He is
respected on and off the field. Also, whether or not you are a Yankee fan, you have to respect his loyalty in an era of free agency.
What’s one thing you can’t live without? Lacrosse. It’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I love playing, training and watching the game. I don’t understand why the sport isn’t bigger, although it’s growing fast.
What always puts you in a good mood?
Thanksgiving. As I grow older, I appreciate the opportunity to be with so many people I care about at the same time.
Where did you go on your last vacation? Our team was lucky enough to visit Costa Rica last summer. It was an amazing experience. I was able to explore an incredible country with 40 of my closest friends.
What’s one thing lacrosse really needs?
Recruiting restrictions. A lot of people talk about changing the way high school players are recruited, but the process seems to stay the same. I don’t see how it makes sense to recruit a freshman in high school. It puts both parties at a disadvantage.
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done? Last summer, I bungee-jumped over the Nile River. That same day, I also whitewater rafted on the Nile. A week later my sister, cousin, and I went skydiving back on home on Long Island.
Do you have any pregame rituals?
Before one of our games my freshman year at Princeton, coach [Chris] Bates told the team to hold up our jerseys and look at them for a few seconds before putting them on. He told us to think about everyone who has put the jersey on before us and to appreciate how lucky we were to be in the position we were in and not let it go to waste. I’ve done it every game since.

Where is your favorite place to play a game, and why? Our home field at Princeton, Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium. Even before I enrolled at Princeton I always viewed ’52 as an iconic venue for college lacrosse. There are so many years of tradition there, in addition to a great surface and size. All of that makes it an awesome place to play.
Double Overtime (from Ryan Pope, Richmond, Va.) What type of food best describes your personality? Tough one; shout out to my friends at TW and my man Chef Charles for helping me with this answer. I’m going to say lobster, because you have to break through its exterior to get to the best part.
