Now there’s a good sport…

What a phenomenal summer it’s been! I’m not just talking abut the unusually “summery” weather we had for a few weeks, I’m talking, of course, about the fantastic sporting performances our nation have achieved.

Firstly we had the British and Irish Lions. Early matches didn’t look too promising but the Lions managed to get themselves together and bring home the first series win for 16 years, thrashing the Aussies 41-16 in the final test. Wimbledon next and could the wee boy from Dunblane manage to shut out all the media hysteria and go one step further than last year? An unenviable task but somehow Andy Murray managed to remain focussed and played game by game, match by match and ended the drought of a British

Winner of the Men’s Singles. A tremendous performance of tennis, focus and professionalism. With all this success so far, surely another Brit couldn’t win this years Tour De France? With Wiggo squeezed out of the team because (perhaps) no one liked his music, could anyone else step up and bring home the Yellow Jersey? Chris Froome was just that man and did the job admirably.

Even as I write, England are 2 tests up against the Aussies for the Ashes and looking pretty invincible. Can England go on to retain the ashes for the 3rd time in a row? Of course they can, they wouldn’t dare be the fly in this years sporting ointment! If all this success and winning seems exciting as a spectator, just

imagine what it would be like as a player! The good news is that the very same feeling they experience can be enjoyed at any level of any sport. You just have to get out there and give it a go and, when you win, you will know what it’s all about. So, if you fancy your own little bit of sporting success this year, why not get out and see what you can achieve? I guarantee you will get an adrenaline rush which will beat anything you have ever experienced on TV.
