MEMORABLE PERFORMANCES AT USA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS


Coming out of Drake Stadium in Des Moines were the stories that make track and field great. Around a blue oval in warm and windy conditions, spots were on the line to represent Team USA at the upcoming World Outdoor Championships in Moscow, Russia.


Each USA Outdoor Championships produces memories that become instantly imprinted in our minds. The 2013 edition in Des Moines was no different.

Each story quickly unfolded throughout the four days of competition. A 21-year-old hurdler fresh off a full collegiate season that quickly put the track and field world on notice, American records set four different times in a single day and the smile and pure talent of a high school athlete just one month removed from her 17th birthday stole the headlines in the Iowa heartland.


Brianna Rollins was far from an unknown when she arrived in Des Moines. The Clemson senior recently won the NCAA Outdoor title in the 100m hurdles when she twice set the collegiate record and ran two world-leading times. But few would have predicted she would shatter Gail Devers’ 13-year-old
