Extension activities:
Where a child has completed their poem before others, or for children who want to further develop the project, the fol- lowing extension activities can help children prepare their poem for life beyond the competition (such as being framed on a wall, featured in a ‘class collections’ book, or on the school website).
Photos
Photos of finished poems or activities during and around the creation of the Poem for Peace is a fantastic way to share the childrens’ achievements. Consider tweeting these using #Peaceoneday and #Ocado.
Design
Encouraging artistic imagery and / or the design of a border or background can enhance the impact of their poem. Downloading the Peace One Day Activities Guide, browsing these Education Resources, or watching one of the many videos on the Peace One Day YouTube Channel can provide further inspiration for imagery.
Performance
Record an audio or video performance of the child reading their poem. Performance is an important ingredient in the power of poetry, and children often love to perform! Performances can be compiled and shared on Peace Day as part of a Peace Day exhibition, shared online (with relevant permissions) to raise awareness of Peace Day, or used creatively in any way deemed suitable.
