Two years after opening in Koblevo, Ukraine, Orbita Aquapark, has just unveiled a 4,000 sq ft (86,111 sq m) expansion including a package of new attractions from Polin Waterparks and Pool Systems, which supplied all the original rides. The new additions take the total size of the waterpark to 12,000 sq ft (129,167 sq m), making it the largest facility of its kind in the region. guests shoot along a path that unexpectedly drops 65ft (20m) then zips through a horizontal loop before splashing down at the exit. “Guests will end the ride gasping with excitement,” says Polin’s head of R&D, Baris Altindag. “It's an experience you won't forget and one that is also addictive. Most guests immediately get back in line to ride it again." The other new attractions Polin has installed at Orbita Aquapark include a Black Hole enclosed tube slide, wide rafting slide and a kids’ area featuring a delightful Clown Shower and Giraffe Shower. La Ronde introduces

Aqua Twist Six Flags-operated La Ronde in Montreal, Canada, has introduced Aqua Twist, North America’s first Twist 'n' Splash by Mack Rides. Guests boarding the interactive water ride, or those just watching others ride, are guaranteed to get soaked. This circular attraction is comprised of nine boats that can each seat up to six passengers. Just after boarding and before the ride starts, the floor disappears and is entirely covered with water, allowing each boat to float and rotate. Boats are equipped with water pistols so passengers can interact with guests aboard the other boats and with bystanders. Other Twist ‘n’ Splash rides have opened this season at Fantasilandia in Chilli, Etnaland in Siciliy (see page 30) and Slagharen in the Netherlands.

American waterpark Dollywood’s Splash Country has debuted Tennessee’s first waterslide coaster. From ProSlide Technologies, RiverRush employs hydro-magnetic technology and linear induction motors. Riding a four-person boat up a 237ft (72m) lift hill, passengers race down an initial 25ft (7.6m), 45- degree drop. From there, moving water propels them up hills, through twists and tunnels, hair-raising hairpin turns, rapids and three more drops. The 1,176ft-long attraction spans nearly an acre of the waterpark. “Growing up, playing in the creeks and streams here in the Smoky Mountains, I could only dream of something like a water coaster,” says Dolly Parton. “But look at us now ...not only does Dollywood’s Splash Country have Tennessee’s first and only water coaster, we’re making water run uphill also!”
