Kalinlandet Liseberg launches new kids’ land

Leading Swedish amusement park Liseberg is marking its 90th anniversary season with the opening of a new look children’s area, Kalinlandet (Rabbit Land).

Named in honour of the Gothenberg park’s green rabbit mascot, the 10,000 square-metre area features seven new and five relocated/ rethemed rides. The new rides include a fresh fleet of Old Timer cars, a cycle monorail (pictured below), mini freefall tower, Flying Wheels tower, children’s

coaster, flying carousel and balloon carousel. Rides that have been moved into the area include the cycle ride, kiddie bumpers and pony carousel. Rides that have been updated are the tea cups and rabbit ride. Meanwhile the old rabbit house has been transformed into a large playground featuring Liseberg’s rabbit mascots. Doesn’t it look great? Kalinlandet is part of a SEK 195 million

($29m/€23m) investment in Liseberg – its most Flying Wheels

expensive ever – that also includes improvements to the Storgatan and West Coast area of the park. Five rides were put into retirement as a result of the new land opening, namely the original Old Timers, Little Frogs, Kiddie Flight Carousel and Trummeliten Carousel.

After taking care of the kids, Liseberg will target the teenagers next season with the opening of Helix, Europe’s longest launch coaster (by Mack Rides).

ABC at Freizeitpark Plohn Here’s a couple of shots of

the new River Splash ride from ABC Engineering at Freizeitpark Plohn. The German park has called the attraction Fluch des Teutates (Curse of Teutates) and it forms the centrepiece of its new Gaul-themed village. Standing 20 metres high, it features 360 metres of channel, and during the spiral descent to the water section at the bottom the rafts complete many spins.
