SICK unveils new rapid changeover solution at total 2013

Colter Products are offering a NEW range of ‘off the Shelf’ Din rail mounting relay modules that offer fuse failure indication for each relay output. The modules use the Bussmann mechanical fuse failure indication on each circuit to provide an alarm signal which can be connected to a PLC which in turn can flag an alarm on a SCADA system directing maintenance to an identifiable individual relay.
F The modules are
particularly useful in large control systems. 1,4,8 & 16 channel relay modules are available as shown in the photograph. Relay Coil voltages are typically 24Vdc but 12 & 48Vdc are also offered.

BEFORE Kyocera Tycom was using stock fluorescent lights with a protective plastic enclosure to light up their drill bit producing CNC Machines. “The problem with the fluorescent lights was that they had to be changed every 6 months. The protective plastic enclosure was stained and filled with coolant oil - there were even instances where the light connectors were burnt. Each machine took 2-3 hours to clean and replace” says Uriel Estrada, Floor Manager.
Uriel
continued, “The protective enclosures weren’t replaced because they are about $400 each and shipping is about the same price. It simply was not cost effective to replace them.” To compensate for low lighting, free standing auxiliary lights had to be brought in.
AFTER Kyocera Tycom decided to use the PATLITE CLK working light because their machine’s dim fluorescent lights were problematic and they were spending too much time repairing and replacing parts. “The CLK remains bright because the oil does not stain the lens and also it is not retained inside the light bar” claims Uriel. Floor workers no longer have to bring in free standing auxiliary lights and the maintenance team can use their time more effectively.

operate, all RapCo’s settings can be configured via a display and no knowledge of plc programming is needed.
The result is a system
with batch-specific settings that achieves speed and repeatability while reducing rejects.
SICK will also demonstrate its award-winning
new deTec4 next-generation safety light curtain. The SICK deTec4 sets a new benchmark for safety while achieving best-possible machine integration and higher operator productivity. With a space saving, robust IP67 design, the deTec4 has no blind zones, offering optimum positioning and protection against unsafe access. The DeTec4 is very easy to install and commission with an automatic range measurement of up to 10 metres. Once set up it operates economically and reliably. The SICK deTec4 Core offers protective field heights in increments from 300mm to 2100mm and a choice of finger (14mm) or hand (30mm) resolution providing protection against operator intervention in accordance with EN ISO 13855 up to 10 Metres.
In addition, it complies with
performance level “e” (EN ISO 13849), Type 4 (IEC61496) and SIL 3 (IEC61508).
