USA Shooting’s greatest cham- pions are created. Seven Junior Olympic competitors competed at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Ft. Benning, in an effort to increase junior confi dence and experience early on in the quad. Following is a recap of events

that took place across Men’s and Women’s Pistol as well as Men’s & Women’s Rifl e.

Pistol (April 3-6) This year’s NJOSC opened with the Men’s and Women’s 10m Air Pistol event .USA Shooting Junior National Team members Wyatt Brown (Twin Falls, Idaho) and Alana Townsend (Kalispell, Mont.) secured national titles. Focusing all his attention

on executing every single shot, Brown used that approach to out-distance his competitors and earn his fi rst national title.

Brown shot a two-day total of 1217.7/1309 to fi nish with 12.9 point advantage over Tyler Volkman (Columbia Falls, Mont.) in a fi nal that featured three USA Shooting National Junior Team members in Brown, Alexander Chichkov (Tampa, Fla.) and Brian Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.). She was the event’s runner-up last year and the win showcased once again

her rise in the sport after winning a silver medal at the recent NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Champion- ships in March. The North Dakota State University student’s recent success was punctuated with an invite to compete in the World Cup USA in Ft. Benning, Ga. The day’s best battle featured

fellow junior team members Lydia Paterson (Kansas City, Kan.) and Darian Shenk (Anneville, Pa.) in a duel for the silver medal.

Paterson came into the fi nal with a one-point lead over Shenk but the two would battle down to the fi nal shot before Shenk edged Paterson by .8 points to secure the silver. Defending National Junior Olympic champ and fellow junior team member Taylor Gallegos (Prosper, Texas) put up a fi nals-best mark of 99.2 to earn the bronze. Later that week, Robert Wells (Pontotoc, Miss.) erased a sub-par
