March 8-10 to compete for the singular title of U.S. college curling cham- pion. Over the 2012-13 curling season, 36 schools competed in bonspiels,
A
head-to-head, and other formatted events to earn merit points. Aſter 11 college-only bonspiels with four or more teams, and 15 smaller events, the top 16 schools were invited to Duluth. Te championships seeded the 16 teams into four groups of four with
a round robin for each group. Te winner of each group advanced to the College Curling Final Four. Congratulations go out to the University of Minnesota for earning the national title. Second place was the College of St Benedict/St Johns University followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Boston University was the fourth playoff team. Te inaugural year of this new championship format went better than
expected and we are already looking forward to the 2013-14 season. Our thanks go out to the Duluth Curling Club for agreeing to host this
event along with the concurrent Copasetic College Bonspiel. Great support was provided from the staff and facility members, and everyone involved on ice had praises for the playing surface and the hospitality. In addition, webstreaming was provided so that parents and friends at home could watch the activities online. While the 2013 U.S. College Curling Championships occupied four
sheets at the Duluth Curling Club, the other four sheets were being utilized at the same time by the Copasetic College Bonspiel. Te event drew in 14 teams from eight schools to Duluth from as far away as Oklahoma and Tennessee. Tis made the Copasetic big enough to meet the College Curl- ing event size guidelines for an automatic berth to the 2014 U.S. College Championships for the First Event winner. Congratulations to Lake Supe- rior College of Duluth, Minn., for becoming the first team to be invited to the 2014 Championships. Between the U.S. College Curling National Championships and the Co-
pasetic College Bonspiel, 30 college curling teams were in this one facility at one time – undoubtedly the biggest single weekend in college curling history. For full details on the 2013 College Curling Championship and general
