DAY IN THE DIARY THE NETWORKER

LOIS KING Is a virtual business assistant based in Brentwood, Essex, offering personal assistance and project support. She gives us a rundown of her busy day, networking and looking after clients

7:00am Wake up and have a strong coffee before getting ready in my suit. All the while, checking my Blackberry for any emails.

8:00am Head off to a local breakfast networking meeting that I help to administer. Great for meeting like-minded, business people for helpful

advice, support and business referrals.

9:30am Back to my home office – throw on some jeans and check emails, voicemails, messages via social media and respond or follow up; then

organise my diary.

10:30am I start to work on a marketing campaign for one of my clients involving enhancing a database for his sector, researching the list of companies

to find the decision-maker of each company and their email address. Once complete, an email will go out advising of his services before I follow up with a telephone call to arrange meetings for him and organise his diary.

1:00pm Meet my friend that I have made via networking, who has a local business, for coffee and cake. We discuss networking groups, how our businesses are

performing and the ups and downs of owning our own business and working alone.

2:00pm Check my Twitter (@loiskingva) and LinkedIn account and send out an update of an example of the services I offer.

2:30pm While juggling one of my other clients, I design, build and manage social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for a client who

wishes to expand into this form of marketing for their business.

5:30pm Prepare my contract for a new client who found me through my website www.loiskingltd.co.uk.

6:30pm Cook dinner with a sneaky look at the Blackberry for any emails, respond if necessary.

8:00pm Treat myself to a relaxing bath with a glass of red wine to unwind.

2:00am Wake up with a good idea for the business! I’ve learned to keep a pen and pad at my bedside.
