It’s my pleasure to welcome you to International Confex and Live Experience 2013. Since the last edition of the show the UK events industry has had an outstanding 12 months and has quite rightly put itself at the top of a global platform for delivering exceptional events.
I am delighted that those suppliers who helped make such a great 2012 will be on the show floor ready to meet with you. From leading venues to outdoor structures and the newest technologies to event service support; this show has the largest concentration of products for you to source for your next meeting or event. Please do give yourself time to get around the show and discover something new, fresh and innovative.
This time last year I wrote about the show having the best educational line-up in its history. I am delighted that we have again stepped up and provided a truly outstanding line-up. With bespoke programmes for the corporate, association, exhibition, agency, festival and local authority sectors alongside four great keynotes, I would recommend you take time for these sessions. Lord John Prescott, Janet Street-Porter and Geoff Cousins will be talking to you about how they made it to the top of their professions and how they can inspire you to be a leader within yours. Piers Shepperd, Technical Director for London 2012 Olympic Ceremonies will be sharing his insights in Live Experience. Finally, we have a series of ‘Big Debates’ happening throughout the show. Be part of the audience and get ready to be involved in healthy and heated discussions on relevant industry topics. The full education programme can be found on pages 22-29.
We are dedicated to bringing you the latest technologies to enhance your events so don’t miss the Tech Talks sessions and the amazing daily holographic projection technology demonstrations by Musion Systems in the Live Lounge.
Finally, one huge aspect of the event this year is to facilitate a week of networking during ‘Confex Week’. For those that were on the London & Partners fam trip on Monday to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, I hope that you came back inspired. We have also created a number of sector specific drinks receptions for you to enjoy, the Hotel Lobby in association with
virtualvenuevisit.com, the Destination Village in association with M&IT, the Production Manager’s Happy Hour and the AIM accredited venues reception are just a few of the networking events taking place throughout the week - see page 8 for full details. Our 30th Birthday party will take place at Tobacco Dock on Wednesday from 7pm. This event is open to the entire industry and we hope you can join us. Coaches will be leaving ExCeL to take you directly to the event so if you have not already got your ticket you can purchase one from the sales office on stand K760.
