t the heart of the Vauxhall CAST competition car is a selection of TET- RAtab rugged computing solutions
powering the various software solutions be- ing demonstrated. Since July 2012, Vauxhall Special Vehicles have partnered with rugged computing specialists TETRAtab Ltd to pro- vide aff ordable rugged secure computing options for their Astra and Insignia model ranges together with a wide range of light commercial vehicles such as Movano and Vivaro. ‘C’ Series - a highly innovative and aff ordable rugged tablet notebook with a rotating con- vertible touch screen. Designed specifi cally for ‘front line’ professionals who require se- cure, rugged mobile computing, but without the higher cost associated with traditional ‘toughened’ computers. Off ering the widest choice of network
connections across 3G mobile broadband, GPRS, Wi-Fi (and optional integrated TETRA) - the TETRAtab ‘C’ Series enables mobile work- ers to easily access and update information whilst on the move. The TETRAtab C Series is already in use in
more than 8 UK police forces, 1 Fire & Rescue Service and a number of ‘orange light’ organi- sations such as housing associations, mobile engineers, area health trusts, and district councils.

The Vauxhall in-vehicle solution allows the TETRAtab ‘C’ Series computer to be securely and safely ‘locked’ into a docking station whilst on the

move – providing seamless connections to vehicle power, secondary dashboard screens, keyboards, printers and external antennae. The highly compact Special features nature of the docking station means it can be eas- ily located in the optimal location for each type of fl eet vehicle – (i.e. saloon, estate, specialist or commercial.) However, the computer can be quickly and
easily ‘undocked’ – allowing the ‘C’ Series c to be used away from the vehicle, fully charged and still connected to ‘back offi ce’ systems using integral 3G Broadband data modem.
Optional In Dash Screen & Keyboard The Vauxhall docking station automatically connects the TETRAtab ‘C Series’ computer to a high-resolution touch-screen sunk into the vehicle dashboard. This allows both driv- er and passenger to view the screen (where permitted) and access and enter information using a secondary ‘fl oating’ keyboard. Both the docking station and dash
mounted screen are fi tted by Vauxhall as ‘original’ OEM equipment - designed to meet all legal and safety regulations.
