Special features One of Daetech’s fl agship solutions is
the globally unique MIDAS, the Mobile Im- age and Data Acquisition System which was designed back in 2004 to aid Police in the recovery of CCTV and multimedia evidence from the vast array of com- mercial third party recording sys- tems. The success of this system has resulted in it having been operationally delivered to a large number of police forces and forensic service provid- ers in the UK and more recently to international agencies. This unit has the full capability for the recovery of evidence in a forensically sound method from analogue or digital CCTV, multimedia devices and computers thus allowing inves- tigators to immediately access, process and enhance that evidence whilst on the scene.
The Midas One The new MIDASone, has been developed as a lite version of the mighty MIDAS IV. It is 98% smaller than the Midas IV but still maintains the essential connec- tivity with user simplicity for fi rst responders. This stable and reliable unit has now been selected for integration into the new Vauxhall Police Astra Sports Tourer project and is working seamlessly with the Tet-
ratab powered in- car PC and ruggedized laptop. A combination of Daetech’s
control suite running on both the
MIDASone hardware and the in-car PC and laptop allows fi rst responders to collect time critical and essential evidence from both CCTV and multimedia devices, digitally store, transfer, transmit, upload and distribute the evidence to where it’s needed. The whole solution prides itself on being fully interop- erable with existing police and emergency services infrastructure. Using the Daetech

control suite, offi cers can create digi- tal evidence bins (folders) based around crime or incident reference numbers. CCTV video can be captured as a universal uncom- pressed fi le along with digital media copied from either, smart card, bluetooth or net- works. All recovered evidence is hash verifi ed to ensure its forensic integrity from source to courtroom. All recovered evidence can be viewed and
processed within the vehicle or forwarded to back room offi ce staff who can securely collect and retrieve video and images for en- hancement before being forwarded back to the offi cer. Alternatively the evidence can be distributed immediately to offi cers of other emergency services and agencies who may require sight of the data as soon as possible.
