Juanita Lou Vincent, 82, died Nov. 25, 2012, in Claude. She was born Nov. 20, 1929, to Lyman and Charlotte Upham
in Perryton. She graduated from Lefors High School in 1947 and married Ed Vincent later that year. The Vincents raised registered Quarter Horses and tended Hereford cattle. She is survived by 4 daughters and their families.
TSCRA Honorary Vice President Louis Pearce, Houston, died Dec. 26, 2012. He was
born Feb. 17, 1917. He graduated from Texas Military Institute and later went to The University of Texas, Austin. He joined the Army in 1940 and was assigned to the horse cavalry, but attended Offi cer Candidate School and was com- missioned an offi cer in November 1942. He served in Italy during WWII. Pearce spent his life in service to his community, includ- ing the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and was awarded numerous honors and recognition for his charitable activities.
Ben Wilson, 90, Claude, died Dec. 30, 2012. He was born May 19, 1922, to Jap and Hattie Wilson. Ben attended Texas A&M University before enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1942. He served as a tail gunner and ball turret gunner with the 8th Army Air Corps on B-17 and B-24 bombers in Europe until his discharge in 1945. After WWII, he began farming and ranching southwest of Claude, where he spent his life in service to his family and com- munity. He is survived by Georgia, his wife of 58 years, daughter Cindy, sons Scot and Ross, and many other relatives.

James “Jim” Cathey, College Station, has been appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Con-
servation Council for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015. The council assists the Texas Land Commissioner with administration of the Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program, which enables and facilitates the purchase and donation of agricultural conser- vation easements. Hugh Jons, Kerrville, will serve on the Upper Guadalupe River Authority board for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017. The authority develops water policies, manages fl oods and protects the quality of water for the Guadalupe River.
